Merry Christmas, or as I’m choosing to call it: HAPPY INTO THE WOODS DAY!
Date: December 25, 2014
Days Spent on Project: 675
Location: NW Portland, OR
Person I would have sent it to: After I worked with Candice non-stop for two months, I was extended an offer to interview with the Yale Dramatic Society for their next fall’s musical production of a popular Sondheim show. Remember, I had worked with them before– two years prior– and it had ended up being one of Those Productions For The Memoirs.
It’s an interesting experience, having to interview for a design job with someone who’s easily ten years your junior and still an undergraduate student, running a student-run theater group. Today’s Crane will be for Melissa C., the student “producer,” in charge of interviewing the designers she felt were up to the game of designing the show and working with the director.
Again, I don’t know why the director hired for those student productions couldn’t bring his own designers that he worked with prior… but that’s a minor, pesky detail. I don’t know what they were/are looking for in designers- maybe it’s just people with impressive resumes?
Anyway, Melissa had a very large task in front of her, leading that group of people and producing a work of that size. It wasn’t easy, for any of us.
Music I listened to while sewing: Madonna’s new singles! Yay!
Thoughts/Feelings behind the block: The danger of social media on holidays is seeing the constant stream of people celebrating with family, children, friends, etc. I’m trying to stay off them as much as possible.
In a way, can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow.
Don’t take it for granted.
