Block 507: November 2, 2014

What is the point of a musical revue?

Date: November 2, 2014

Crane: 507

Days Spent on Project: 622

Location: NW Portland, OR

Person I would have sent it to: Sue C.

Going back to the wardrobe crew of Fela, it was a crew of Sues! Sue C. was another one of the dressers, in charge of a group of the female dancers and their many outfits and costume pieces and accessories (’cause let’s face it: those costumes were mostly accessories than fabric).

Always super pleasant about the work and the people, even when times were a bit frustrating, she was a good and appreciated energy to have on that crew.

In the years since Fela was on Broadway, she and I have kept in touch sporadically on Facebook. She’s been incredibly supportive of this project and has encouraged me throughout the process.

Music I listened to while sewing: Still on the album Ain’t Misbehaving… This time, I’m listening to the original cast recording from 1978. It’s pretty great. I mean, Nell Carter!

Thoughts/Feelings behind the block: It looks like my upcoming week is going to be all about budgeting numbers and balancing hypothetical books.

Funny how my design career has morphed into always thinking about the bottom line and less artistic choices.
