9:51 am.
Well, today is off to a good start.
Date: March 27, 2013
Location: Apartment, Washington Heights, NYC
Person I would have sent it to: Tevis B., one of the first artists I ever met… And we were in the same grade in Elementary School.
No idea where he ended up at or what he ended up doing in life.
I saw him as the other person in my grade who expressed himself through drawing, which- looking back- was pretty awesome. To have someone else in a class who was just as excited to sketch out an image (even if it was a bunch of doodled out imaginary worlds or skulls and crossbones).
I always thought he had an awesome life. Maybe his parents were artists? I think they did something creative, and that was funneled down to him.
I think. I wish I was more certain.
Regardless, he was pretty cool.
Music I listened to while sewing: Right now? Glenn Miller’s Tuxedo Junction.
Thoughts/Feelings behind the block: This morning is AWESOME.
I’m not trying to make this political, but since yesterday was the first day of the Supreme Court hearing arguments in the case against Proposition 8 in California, I made a quilt block of the red Human Rights Campaign image and posted it on Facebook.
When I went to bed last night, several of my friends “liked” it.
This morning, the quilt block had been featured on Buzzfeed- along with a few other Equality images- as having gone viral.
THAT’S COOL.
I’m for Marriage Equality (obviously), and it’s nice that my (small) gesture was seen by more than a handful of people.
Off to walk The Dog. It’s sunny out, and I want to get him to the dog run!
Cheers, everyone.
Quite spectacular… and I don’t mean a spectacle!
Nice! A group of them might make a nice banner, too.
