Block 23: March 12, 2013

Lest anyone think I’m getting smug with these blocks, let me just share that this little masterpiece took me almost 2 hours from start to finish to complete.

I hope this doesn’t foreshadow how today will go.

Happy, rainy Tuesday!

Date: March 12, 2013

Location: Apartment, Washington Heights, NYC

Person I would have sent it to: my uncle, Doug.

Music I listened to while sewing: Decided to listen to the new (!) David Bowie album that people have been talking about recently. I’m not a big Bowie fan; based on my sewing performance this morning and the music I heard, I don’t think that’s going to change. Ooops.

Thoughts/Feelings behind the quilt: Like I said before, it took me almost TWO HOURS to finish this. Why, you ask?

Just a series of elementary mistakes that slightly snowballed at every single  step. As I sewed each piece together, I noticed that I’d have to sometimes tweak a stitching line by maybe a sixteenth of an inch or so. By the time I got to the second to last seam to do, I noticed there was no way I could make the pieces fit together! Frustrated, I looked at the two sections… Only to realize that I had sewn an “end” block at the beginning! Yes, that some of the triangles are *almost* identical finally snuck up on me.

This meant I had to figure out a way to remove the second piece I had sewn and replace it with the last piece.

In the end I took it all apart and started over. Yay.

Here’s hoping the rest of the day doesn’t follow this path…

(fingers crossed!)

  1. Greetings. Can you direct me to the pattern you use? I’ve been searching for a while, and am so enamored with it, that I cannot accept any other! Thanks.
