Block 20: March 9, 2013

And just as quickly as that disgusting little snowstorm and bout of cold weather descended upon New York, it has left. Today is gorgeous outside; solidly in the 50s, it’s too nice outside not to spend it out and about. The Dog has had almost three hours of playtime today. He’s exhausted, but I think he liked it.

Date: March 9, 2013

Location: Apartment, Washington Heights, NYC

Person I would have sent it to: my cousin, Mike.

Music I listened to while sewing: Spent the morning listening to the musical Ragtime. It’s one of the shows I would kill to design; I love the period, the show’s scale means you can make some really great design choices, and the music! Honestly, with every listen, I hear a new lyric and understand how much emotion there is embedded in the show. And out of all the musicals I listen to, it’s the one that gives me chills at several points during the recording. I think I could do a really bang-up job with it. I worry that Santo Loquasto’s original design has become iconic, however; trying to distance a new design from his costumes would be a challenge. (Shameless Plug: I’d be up for it!)

Thoughts/Feelings behind the block: Where do I even begin? Let’s just say I’m exhausted; another night of falling asleep past midnight, waking up every hour, and struggling to stay in bed. The Dog did let me stay in bed until 8am, though. That helped.

Because of that, no plans tonight. I want to be productive (emails for work! maybe start my taxes! clean more of the apartment! update my website!), but I imagine I’m going to make myself a sandwich soon and watch more Downton Abbey. Hopefully, will be in bed by 10.

Daylight Savings starts tonight! We lose an hour, but it will be so nice to have light in the evenings again.

Okay, peace out. A turkey sandwich is calling my name.

Enjoy everyone!

  1. I’m absolutely adoring every crane block of yours so far! I’m itching to do my thousand cranes. I did one in paper each day I worked at my last job, and hung them respectfully under the cabinets in my cubicle. Right now, I’m searching for the pattern you are using. Any hints? I will, of course, purchase the pattern when I find it. Are you willing to share where you found yours? Loving your blog.
